Oceanic colors create the ambiance of a shallow water shoal. The grain pattern mimics a sandy embankment.

To prove the concept of what I had in mind, I wired up an addressable LED strip and tossed it on the wooden models I had carved. I didn't like how the strips were visible, so I set out to 3D model and print my fish with inlays for the strip to rest in.
What started off as a woodworking project became the beginnings of my underwater lamp after the style made me want to explore the design further.
In my opinion, the inner lights shining through the print that expose the infill pattern mirror the scales on a fish. That said, when surfaced and painted this illusion goes away.
